Weekend Nail Polish Haul!

Alrighty so bad news - I had to cut all my nails off, so they are all short and not to my liking anymore haha.

But here is a haul in the meantime while they grow back a bit haha


My parents came back from a trip to BC, and my dad wanted to bring me something back, he decided to get me nail polish! haha what a doll. He picked the two Maybelline Color Show polishes there

The purple one is like a crackle polish called Purple Possibilities,  The Blue is called Navy Narcissist, yet to try them out but excited! Purple is my favorite color, and this is a really pretty blue! Not too shabby pops! haha

Then when my mom came in on sunday we stopped at a few stores, couldnt help myself from looking at the nail polish selections, especially when they are just displayed in front of you like that! So I picked up this magnetic polish! This is the first one ive had and it is reallly cool!

Its by Sally Hansen and is called Red-y Response, the only thing I dont like about this polish is you need to be speedy, paint the color on and put it under the magnet while the polish is still wet, but im assuming all magnetic polishes are like this?

We also stopped at Superstore, and I was not expecting to get any nail polish here...I hadnt been to here in god knows how long, but apparently they have a pretty decent cosmetic section? and these were on sale 3 for $10, how could I not?

. These are Joe Fresh polishes, the first ive had. They actually apply really nicely, which I was surprised by. The first color is Onyx, its not black but a REALLY dark gray, The second color is called Hunter which is more green than it shows up here, and the last and my favorite is called Twilight. It is such a pretty flakie polish! TONS and TONS of flakie glitters in there and its suspended in a black jelly base, I put it over both Onyx and Hunter and the end result was they pretty much looked the same so its will darken up whatever polish you layer it with.

OH! I almost forgot! While we were out I found these nifty little things by ELF called beauty books

I picked up the Smoky Eye Set, and The Bronzed Eye Set, Im super excited to try them out! They come with a primer, 6 Eye Shadows, and Eyeliner, and an Eyeshadow Applicator.

And Directions on how to create the look! All in a neat little book :)

Bling Bling at the Ballet

Today I felt like digging out my rhinestones haha, The first color I grabbed was pink, so I decided to run with that and do a girly manicure with bling!

This polish is a very very light pink, shows up almost white here!

So i grabbed the girliest polish in my collection, which turns out to be Essie's Ballet Slippers. I love the color of this polish very very light pink, the name suits it perfectly. Its got one hang up though, applying this polish is a nightmare. It takes me at least 3 or 4 very thick coats to get this polish opaque!

Anywho, So I started apply the rhinestones alternating between pink and clear, at the time I wanted to cover the entire nail, but I think im digging this! I may add more to it later ;P

I'm also thinking that this might look a bit better if I had painted my ring finger and then added the rhinestones...hmm I may revisit that idea in the near future!

Matte Starry Sky

Matte Nail Polish. Its funny, at first I was like, why would you want a dull nail polish? But then I started experimenting with matte polishes and am in love, the effects you can make are really cool!

This Mani reminds me of the night sky, Dark blue base, I used China Glaze First Mate, with a sparkly, twinkly glitter applied on top, I used China Glaze Techno.

You couldddd stop here, but I wanted to do a little something different, So I took out my Essie Matte about You and started polishing up the rest of my nails!

I think it is a pretty cool effect, like frosted glass...but on your nails!

The Beginning + Simple Retro Summer Fun!

So, I have decided to start up my own nail blog, posting my mani of the week on facebook isnt everyones cup of tea, so this seems like a good outlet ;P Anyhow I shall see how this goes, hopefully learn a few things along the way, maybe inspire a few people? I am not a professional by any means but I do know how to rock my polish (at least I think so, and really isnt that all that counts? :P)

So, Ive been feeling really retro lately, and I dont think anything screams that more than classic red with polka dots (...I so want a polka dotty dress to go with this mani...alas that is for another blog lol)

Anywho! Enough with my babblings! Onto the manicure :)

I wanted to keep this really simple and clean, after all it is summer and all, and who wants to be cooped up all day doing a pain stakingly complicated manicure, when they can be out enjoying the beautiful weather!

Here is what I used for this Mani

1.Nail Polish Remover 

2.Red and White Polish

3.Dotting Tool              

4.Cotton Swabs            

I started out with two coats of China Glaze's Hey Sailor! From the Anchor's Away collection I do believe, I absolutley adore China Glaze, most polishes you could probably get away with just one coat, old habits die hard for me though so I used two.

After that has dried, take your dotting tool, if you dont have one of these don't despair! A tooth pick or a bobby pin that has been bent straight will work just as well; Dip your dotting tool into the white polish, I used Sally Hansens White Out, and simply add dots to wherever you desire. I did a row of three dots, then a row of four, repeat until entire nail is covered in prettyful polka dots.

And Wa-La! Easy peasy lemon squeezy ;P You could do this on your entire hand, I chose to just do it on just 2 accent fingers.
